Alan’s diverse background and extensive experience as a principal in several different industries helped him anticipate the needs of his clients. He held the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM designation as well as the Professional Plan Consultant designation. A graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University with a BS in Engineering, Mr. Brecher also held an MBA in Finance from Temple University, graduating magna cum laude.
Beginning in 1980, he began a series of entrepreneurial ventures. First, he founded Resource Equity Corporation. This was the first development company in New Jersey to create a large corporate headquarters by reclaiming a federal “Brownfield” site. In 1985, Alan became a partner at Rouse & Associates, a national real estate developer. Then, in 1994, he acquired a commercial construction company and in 1997, he acquired the controlling interest in a national petroleum-testing laboratory. The following year, he co-founded a regional telecommunications company which raised $170 million in venture capital funding to build fiber-optic networks. In order to wholly concentrate on this last venture, Alan began to divest his other holdings in 1999. In 2001, the fiber-optic networks were acquired by a regional provider of internet services.
Managing the proceeds of these sales led Alan to the financial services profession where he became an investment advisor for a large investment company. In 2005, he joined RTD Financial where he provided financial planning and investment advisory services to business owners, professionals, and retirement plan sponsors. He specialized in working with retirees in helping them to achieve peace of mind about risk, retirement income, and estate planning.
Alan enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his home on the Chesapeake Bay’s Eastern Shore. He was a licensed pilot, experienced scuba diver, classic car enthusiast, and avid walker of golf courses.
